Cost and Budget
What affects the price, how we fix it before you commit, and what to budget for after launch.
It depends on what the software needs to do, how many processes it covers, and what it must connect to. We don’t publish prices for work we haven’t scoped. Instead, a paid specification stage defines exactly what will be built, and that produces a firm, fixed price before you commit to the build.
You are paying for a system designed around your business rather than a product built for thousands of others. That takes analysis, design, development, testing and data migration. The fair comparison is not the price of an off-the-shelf licence but the cost of the manual work, errors and workarounds the software removes.
Yes. We break work into clearly defined Work Items, each with a fixed scope and a fixed price. You know the number and what you will receive before work starts.
Every Work Item has an agreed scope, price and set of acceptance criteria. Anything outside that scope is not added silently; it is raised as a change, priced, and only done once you approve it. You stay in control of the budget at every step.
New features are scoped and quoted as new Work Items. You decide whether and when to proceed, so the system can grow at a pace that suits your budget.
Yes. Typical ongoing costs are hosting, a support retainer and a licence fee for the Ocom components your system runs on. We set these out up front so there are no surprises after launch.
Sometimes, and if an off-the-shelf product genuinely fits, we will tell you. Custom software makes sense when existing products force you to change how you work, need expensive workarounds, or can’t handle what makes your business different.
Usually one well-defined problem: a single process, spreadsheet or bottleneck that costs you the most. We scope that as a first Work Item, deliver it, and expand once you have seen the value.
Yes. Breaking the project into Work Items lets you fund it in stages, with each stage delivering working software before you commit to the next.
Ongoing costs cover hosting, a support retainer and the component licence. Changes or new features are quoted separately as Work Items. We agree the support arrangement with you before launch so you can budget for it.
